Cincinnati, OH

In 2010, the Cincinnati Zoo began construction on Africa, the largest and most ambitious wildlife exhibit in the Zoo’s history.  The Hippo exhibit, which opened in 2016, was to be the final, and most anticipated, piece of Africa expansion. This exhibit consists of a main exhibit body of water with underwater viewing of hippos and fish along with holding tanks for the hippos.

The main exhibit has hippos and fish with underwater viewing. The exhibit has a dedicated LSS system with recycled water to help with resource conservation.

The holding tanks are for winter and off-display for the privacy of the hippos. These will also have a dedicated LSS to reduce water consumption.  See Photo Gallery
